Upper Middle School Section of the Haven of Hope Academy operates the hybrid curriculum that comprises of:
Developed by Cambridge Assessment International Education, this curriculum emphasizes a rigorous academic framework that fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It offers a range of international qualifications, including IGCSEs and A Levels, recognized globally for their academic rigor.
This system typically follows a K-12 structure, focusing on a broad education that includes core subjects (math, science, English, social studies) alongside electives. It prepares students for college with standardized testing like the SAT or ACT and emphasizes holistic development through extracurricular activities.
NERDC designs the Nigerian national curriculum, aiming to provide a balanced and relevant education that meets the country’s developmental needs. It emphasizes local culture, values, and competencies necessary for national progress while integrating global educational standards.
This curriculum offers technical education and training in information technology, focusing on networking, cybersecurity, and programming. CISCO provides certifications that are recognized worldwide, preparing students for careers in the fast-evolving tech industry.
Best known for administering the SAT and Advanced Placement (AP) programs, College Board provides rigorous college preparatory curricula that encourage advanced academic study and critical thinking. The AP courses allow high school students to earn college credit while still in high school.
This category includes various global educational programs such as the International Baccalaureate (IB) and Edexcel, which provide diverse learning experiences and qualifications recognized worldwide. These curricula often emphasize global citizenship, intercultural understanding, and a comprehensive approach to education.
The respective subject teachers are required to creatively prepare PowerPoint presentations, lesson plans, and log drafts based on diverse information gathered from the hybrid curriculum, which will be posted on Google Classroom for learners to access for study while at school and for continuous practice anywhere in the world. These materials are accessible to students through the Google Classroom codes provided to parents at the beginning of the term via each class’s WhatsApp group or the HHA Learning Management System (LMS), which can only be accessed through the internally generated intranet.
At the Lower Middle School Section of Haven of Hope Academy, the ultimate milestones for all students are the Entrance Examination into High School and the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE). Consequently, the academic progress of learners in this section is measured by their success rates in these examinations. Over the years, students have made significant strides, achieving remarkable results and demonstrating outstanding performances in both assessments. Additionally, many pupils have excelled in extracurricular activities, such as science fairs and mathematics competitions, and have earned scholarships and awards that recognize their academic and personal growth.
Held every Friday from 10:00 AM to 10:40 AM, this program is coordinated by the games master, his assistant, and other teachers in the section. We offer a variety of sporting activities, including field and track events on the school pitch, while indoor games are organized when the weather is unfavorable.
These activities take place every Friday from 10:00 AM to 10:40 AM for students who do not participate in sports due to health, personal, or family reasons. Additionally, all other students are required to participate in clubs and societies on a fortnightly basis, allowing them to make the most of the sports periods on alternate Fridays.
Robotics: This club engages students in hands-on activities related to robotics and engineering. Members work on designing, building, and programming robots, fostering teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Press: The Press Club offers students the opportunity to explore journalism, writing, and media production. Members produce school newsletters and articles, enhancing their communication and critical thinking abilities.
Drama: The Drama Club encourages creativity and self-expression through theatrical performances. Students participate in acting, scriptwriting, and stage production, building confidence and collaboration skills.
Jet: Focused on aviation and aerospace, the Jet Club introduces students to the principles of flight and space exploration. Members engage in projects related to model airplanes and rockets, inspiring interest in STEM fields.
A comprehensive program of after-examination activities is organized through the head teacher’s office to enhance both curricular and extracurricular learning. These activities creatively engage students following termly examinations, focusing on essential areas covered during the term that may not have been fully demonstrated or practiced. This initiative is crucial for fulfilling the broad hybrid curriculum used at the school, ensuring that each child develops holistically and is prepared to stand confidently alongside their peers worldwide.
